DanuBioValNet
From a fossil-based to a bio-based industry
The development of optimized strategies and services for businesses is driving the transition from a fossil-based to a bio-based industry in the Danube region.
DanuBioValNet – A Study on Bio-based Value Chains in the Danube Region
As part of the EU project “DanuBioValNet,” we would like to ask for your support and would be very grateful if you could take about 15 minutes to participate in a survey. The goal of the project is to strengthen bio-based value chains (including in the field of ecological/sustainable construction) in the Danube region by developing appropriate measures, thereby reducing dependence on the fossil-fuel-based industry. Possible initial measures to strengthen these value chains could include organizing international industry exchange forums or networking platforms. The goal is to foster new business partnerships throughout the Danube region and leverage synergies.
Project objective:
By developing optimized strategies and services for businesses, the project aims to advance the transition from a fossil-based to a bio-based industry in the Danube region.
Background:
The transition from a fossil-based to a bio-based industry provides solutions to numerous key challenges identified in the Danube region. A bio-based industry reduces dependence on fossil resources and facilitates the achievement of climate protection goals by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Furthermore, eco-innovations support regional development by diversifying the local economy and creating new jobs. Since no comprehensive, transnational strategy yet exists for stakeholders in the bio-based industry in the Danube Region, they do not yet cooperate sufficiently—failing to leverage synergies—and are therefore unable to fully exploit the sector’s high potential.
For this reason, the “DanuBioValNet” project is developing new methods and tools to connect companies and stakeholders across national borders. Cluster initiatives were selected as representatives to create new value chains and to promote the bio-based industry within the context of industry, research, and policy.
Highlights:
• New cluster services, methods, and tools for SMEs to enable bio-based value creation
• International cluster strategy for the bio-based industry
• Three flagship projects for bio-based value chains
• Danube Region network for the bio-based industry
Duration:
30 months 01/01/2017 – 06/30/2019
Total budget:
approximately €2,500,000
Consortium:
17 project partners from 10 EU countries (excluding strategic partners)
