Based on the typical product life cycle, the [Mechatronics Cluster[NBSP]] focuses on the topics of smart engineering, intelligent production and industrial services. With our partners, we work along the entire value chain on the topics of digitization and sustainability as well as increasing the level of automation in manufacturing companies in all industries.
The focus is on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the development process in order to increase efficiency and quality. Particular attention is paid to human-centered AI and engineering methods, which design technological innovations in line with human needs, as well as the consistency of data across the entire product life cycle. Central topics include simulation, modelling, digital twins, sustainability strategies and AI as the key to a sustainable, people-oriented future.
The Mechatronics Cluster takes up approaches for future production/advanced manufacturing as well as for optimizing ongoing production, networking machines and systems, virtualization and human-machine interaction. Industrial data and its use through artificial intelligence, intelligent automation through collaborative robotics or the optimization of existing systems through retrofitting are becoming increasingly important. Ultimately, it is primarily about one thing: increasing efficiency in production.
Today, industrial service is much more than simply resolving faults: Service is the decisive argument in the sale of complex machines and systems. Hybrid value creation — the combination of product and service — creates the greatest benefit for the customer — from a single source. Customers are also no longer only interested in the physical product, but in efficient, long-term use and added value over the lifetime.
Digitalization enables completely new business models here. The impact of service on the sustainability of products is also important. New financing solutions, Generation Z and many other factors often find their way to the manufacturer through service. Another trend is the development of business models based on subscription and pay-per-use. Artificial intelligence, Internet of Thing and new forms of maintenance are increasingly being integrated into service offerings.
In international competition, service is already a decisive factor that will have an even more significant impact on companies' purchasing and decision-making processes in the future.
